Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of Recast, the macOS and iOS apps, the recast-ai.uk website, and the optional Recast account and Recast Cloud services (together, "Recast"), operated by Richard Liao ("we", "us"). By using Recast you agree to them.
1. The app is free; the account and Cloud are optional
The Recast app works fully without an account, using your own AI provider keys or local models. Creating an account is optional and only enables extras such as submitting templates to the community market and Recast Cloud (a hosted model). Nothing you can do without an account is ever taken away by not having one.
2. Recast Cloud and plans
Recast Cloud provides a hosted AI model with a monthly allowance of "runs" (one run = one request to the model). Free accounts include a small allowance; Recast Pro and Recast Team include larger allowances and extra features as described on the pricing page. Allowances reset on the first day of each month (UTC). We may adjust the underlying model to keep quality and cost sustainable; plan features are as listed at the time you subscribe.
3. Billing, cancellation and refunds
Paid plans are billed in advance, monthly or yearly, through Stripe. Prices are shown before you pay; taxes may be added where required. You can cancel at any time from your account page — your plan stays active until the end of the period you've paid for and is not renewed. We don't refund partial periods except where the law requires it. Promotional prices (for example the early-bird price) apply for as long as the subscription remains continuously active. On iOS, Recast Pro can also be bought as an App Store subscription; those are billed and cancelled through your Apple ID (Settings › Apple ID › Subscriptions), and refunds for App Store purchases are handled by Apple through its Report a Problem process.
4. Fair use
Cloud allowances are for personal use of the app by the account holder (or the seats you've paid for on Team). Automated bulk use, resale of Cloud access, or sharing one account across many people is not permitted; we may throttle or suspend accounts that do so.
5. Community templates
Templates you submit to the market may be published, edited for clarity, or removed at our discretion. You must have the right to submit them and they must not contain harmful, infringing, or private content. By submitting, you grant us a non-exclusive licence to distribute them within Recast. Community templates are plain-text instructions; they cannot run commands on anyone's machine.
6. Your content
Text you transform (and images you attach) are sent to the AI provider you chose — Recast Cloud, or your own provider — to produce a result, and are not stored by us beyond what's needed to complete the request. See the Privacy Policy.
7. Acceptable use and termination
Don't use Recast to break the law, harm others, or attack our systems. We may suspend accounts that do. You may delete your account at any time.
8. Disclaimer and liability
Recast is provided "as is". AI output can be wrong; you are responsible for what you send and paste. To the extent permitted by law, our liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before a claim.
9. Changes
We may update these terms; material changes will be announced in the app or by email. Continued use after a change means you accept it.
